...all who are weary, and I will give you rest


so we come, the lot of us


we come and we believe


we deepen our devotion


we observe our rituals


we call on an army of saints and intercessors


to seek help in time of need


to seek comfort in time of trouble


there are times though when we find ourselves reluctant to enter the door


when we lose sight of meaning while ritual is forced upon us


or when we get the creeping feeling that all this is just about money


or when we see how faith as a tool for subjugation


then we remember that even He cried out, 'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?'


but as we face the forming darkness


we can't completely shake off the feeling that there's SOMEONE watching us from behind


so we light ourselves a candle


in the hope that there IS light at the end of the road, and all we believe in will not be for nothing
